I was dead, then alive.

The power of love came into me,
and I became fierce like a lion,

مرده بودم، سپس زنده شدم.

می‌گریستم، سپس خندیدم.
نیروی عشق در من آمد،
و درنده شدم چون شیر،
سپس لطیف شدم چون ستاره شامگاهی.
این ابیات بیانگر سفری روحانی و تحولی درونی است که مولانا از آن سخن می‌گوید.
